Hivency and micro-influencing

Today on the Look Forward blog, we welcome Sylvain Gasc, co-founder of Hivency. Hivency, one of Look Forward’s 8 startups, has developed an automated platform for linking brands (in fashion, cosmetics, but not only) and micro-influencers.

At the time of social marketing and social networks, Hivency is experiencing a fulgurant success, and just launched a white paper on how collaborate with influencers: let’s learn more immediately!

Hello Sylvain! First of all, thank you for your time. To begin, can you introduce yourself and the concept of Hivency?

Hello !

My name is Sylvain Gasc, I graduated from ESSEC BBA and ESCP Europe and I co-founded Hivency right after my studies, with Dorian Ciavarella, who I met during my master years.

Hivency is a free shopping platform for web micro-influencers. The brands offer products to offer and interested micro-influencers get them in exchange for sharing on their social networks. For micro-influencers, it’s a good way to create content and discover products for free, while brands gain visibility!

Would you have an example of successful collaboration everyone to experience?

We collaborate regularly with many brands, which get dozens of shares of their products and tens of thousands of interactions thanks to us. To see examples of successful collaborations, just visit our Instagram account (@Hivency) and discover the hundreds of photos on which we are tagged! You’ll get a glimpse of the type of cooperation that we have already set up, in fashion, cosmetics, fooding …

How did you come up with the idea of Hivency?

The idea originated from Dorian, my partner, who was responsible for the development of a company and who was already working with youtubeurs to make his products known. Facing the potential of this new communication lever, he shared with me his idea to automate it. We started working on the subject during our studies and we created Hivency early 2016.

So, after a year of activity, what are your goals for 2017?

For 2017, we plan to fill our micro-influencers by sending them a lot of products and, in order to do so, we aim to strongly develop our panel of brands present on our shop.

We are also in the midst of raising funds, which will allow us to improve our platform and add very innovative features for both brands and micro-influencers. Stay tuned 🙂

But why did you apply to the Forward Look incubator ?

We have chosen to integrate the Look Forward incubator for several reasons. First, there is a real synergy between our activity and Showroomprivé.com’s. Second, we have access through the incubator to human skills from Showroomprivé.com that we do not have in-house.

Finally, the team of the incubator is extremely involved in the support and development of incubated start-ups!

How do you see the FashionTech trend that has emerged lately?

The FashionTech  trend is a very good thing for the fashion industry, which has experienced difficult years in France over the last 20 years. The new capabilities offered by technology are phenomenal and open up considerable opportunities, whether it is in the user experience, in company communication or in the design of products themselves. If we only act on some of these themes, I find that the projects of the other incubates are really promising!

To finish, 3 bloggers / bloggers you follow now?

I am obviously following thousands of bloggers / instagrameurs with Hivency. If I were to bring out 3 that I find really great at the moment, I would say:

But more than 10,000 more to discover on Hivency!

Finally, to conclude, an anecdote about your new entrepreneurial life?

It’s always funny when you start a start-up, to see how it opens doors and allows you to access people we only knew through the media. Unfortunately without being able to share any names, we often find ourselves in appointments with people who are, or who have made the news, which sometimes put us in rather surprising situations

Thanks Sylvain for your time and answers!
