backstage of creation
#WEAREABLE 2016

The Weareable FashionTech Festival ephemeral workshop proposed to discover the backstage of creation, through meetings and workshops that were open to all.

Conceived in partnership with the amazing “Atelier Draft” and the Réserve des Arts.

Passionate about arts since her very first days, Aurélie Chadaine grew up surrounded by dressmakers who taught her rigor and precision in sewing, but also to recognize attractive objects and fine materials.

The intention of her eponymous brand, established in 2013, is to create eco-friendly products in leather, combining expertise, handcrafting and design, using new technologies and vegetal skin.

Inspired by beauty of natural materials, (leather, linen, cotton), she designed bags with minimalistic lines, developing it into several formats combining high technologies and unique savoir-faire. Material becomes a design support and graphic research.

During this workshop, the artist hoped to share her background, her history, her technical realization and enjoyed using on-site machines in order to realize, in front of the audience, her famous “franginettes”.

In fact, Aurélie recently launched a collection of “franginettes”: calfskin strips which remarkably adapt on all lace-up shoes, and embellish your sneakers just as your derbies.

Think different, Re-use and Handmade are the key words that define the brand Aurélie Chadaine.

Thanks Aurélie for this beautiful sharing!

Raised in the North of France, Aurélie Chadaine begins her background in Beaux-Arts in Italia where she learned textiles traditions. She then flied to Asia where she finished her studies and settled there to be a research assistant at the Academy of Visual Arts in Hong Kong, where she led a project that combined textile traditions and new technologies. Back in France and with her strong multicultural experience, she led her way as a textile designer, and was rewarded as a laureate of the Mittelmodo prestigious contest, by winning the Green and Chic Award and the Italian Fabric Award.

Conscious to be in possession of a precious heritage, and driven by the desire of bringing new consumption patterns; she created her eponymous brand in April 2013. She collaborates with Josette studio and learns digital textile design in Beaux-Arts in Bologne, Italia. After a few months of creating her own brand, she joined the collective Maisons de Mode and opened her first workshop/store in Roubaix. She develops collections of bags and small leather accessories. All pieces are handmade in France in the workshop of the designer.
